COVERS

FIRST PAGE DRAWINGS

Blanco y Negro magazine repeated the same cover for over a year (except the calendar sheet), but in 1893, the publication decided to change the front page every week. This demanded great doses of creativity and the collaboration of the leading illustrators of the moment. In this book we can see almost a hundred cover artists who drew in this magazine. Ramón Esparza, based in the covers, reviews the artistic trends Spain has had for more than a century, the aesthetic development of the magazine and the evolution of the issues of most interest for the reader: the women’s view, the important dates and the traditional landscape.
