At Casa Museo Adolfo Lozano Sidro in Priego de Córdoba, in collaboration with Museo ABC, you can visit the exhibition Covers by Adolfo Lozano Sidro.
This show is a tour through the peculiar line and style of the artist. It gathers 13 original illustrations that were used as covers for the Blanco y Negro magazine. These works can be seen for a year, until the end of February 2019, at the Casa Museo of Adolfo Lozano Sidro, located in Priego de Córdoba (Andalusia). It is the house of the family Calvo Lozano, the walls that once witnessed the growth of the artist.
This selection shows the different themes and styles that Lozano Sidro has cultivated through his entire career: his beloved Andalusian fields, the capital society of the «big world», the female portrait and his taste for the exotic.
His first cover in Blanco y Negro magazine dated on April 5th 1902. Inmaculada Corcho, director of the Museo ABC, explained «many artists that worked in the magazine were seeking the honour of publishing their works on the front page, occupying the most visible and noble space of the publication. Adolfo Lozano Sidro reached this honour very early. After that, he published almost 50 covers in the magazine and 10 in the ABC newspaper. And Inmaculada Corcho added «the personality of the Blanco y Negro magazine was marked forever by his beautiful drawings, masterpieces that represent a moment, its people, ideas and thoughts. Covers were, beyond the rest of pages: art and talent».
