ORNAMENT AND DETONATION

SANTIAGO MORILLA

Ornamento y detonación (Ornament And Detonation) is the first edition of the program Conexiones. A project made up by Fundación Banco Santander and Museo ABC whose curator is Óscar Alonso Molina. The project consists in choosing any type of artist and letting him/ her choose as a starting point to his/ her exhibition two works of art that belong to the collections Colección Banco Santander and Colección ABC.

Ornamento y detonación (Ornament And Detonation) is done by the artist Santiago Morilla (Madrid, 1973). He has been inspired by the famous text Ornament and Crime (1908) by Adolf Loos. As usual, his work uses the intricate arabesque worlds, the scrawls, the knots, and the balls, as symbols of complexity and subtlety.
