GENTE MENUDA

DRAWINGS FOR A KIDS SECTION

Gente Menuda (Little Kids) is a publication that marked generations of Spaniards who grew up with Celia and El conejo Roenueces tales, the magician Pirulo or Lita and Lito. The avant-garde, the most important authors of literature and the best illustrators of the moment (Sancha, Xaudaró, Francisco López Rubio, Regidor, Atiza, Cilla, Méndez Bringa, Molina Vera o Huertas) coexist in its pages. In 1904, Don Torcuato Luca de Tena, launches the best cultural supplement in Spanish journalism dedicated to children; a challenge, because at the time few people knew how to read. Felipe Hernández, the book’s author, strip cartoonist, critic and winner of the National Comic Prize, guides us through this nostalgic review of our childhood, while giving the most detailed historical summary of the ABC newspaper ever published.
