NARCISO MÉNDEZ BRINGA
AN ILLUSTRATION SHOW
Narciso Méndez Bringa (Madrid, 1866-1933) is one of the most recognized graphic illustrators of the Golden Age in Spain. His great talent for representing reality and its high sense of composition, allowed him to illustrate any kind of issue. His extensive work goes from the Belle Époque to the Second Republic. Méndez Bringa is the author of countless covers and book and magazines illustrations, a pioneer of children’s illustration (for the legendary publishing house Calleja), and developed most of its artwork in Blanco y Negro magazine (Museo ABC holds more than three thousand five hundred original drawings). Victor Zarza, critic and professor at the Complutense University, guides us through a suggestive tour of this “illustration show ” which, in the words of Francisco Nieva, make up the work of Méndez Bringa.
