ELENA ALONSO

AROUND SPACE

Using as a starting point two works of art that belong to the collections Colección Banco Santander and Colección ABC, our program Conexiones offer drawing artists to carry out an exhibition in our Museum. They face the challenge based on their choice and with absolute creative freedom to reveal the connections that give name to the project.

On this 10th edition of the program Conexiones, the artist that has been selected is Elena Alonso (Madrid, 1981), which has developed a drawing project with strong architectural undertones. Based on the magnificent engraving made by Giovanni Battista Piranesi, recently integrated to the Colección Banco Santander (Pareresull’Architettura, 1765), and on a drawing made by José Luis López Sánchez (La encerrada, 1933) from Colección ABC, Elena achieves to put out an artwork that spreads out through the book’s pages as decorative elements creating a world of rhythms and emptiness.
