GREGUERÍAS

Ramón Gómez de la Serna. Greguerías is the catalogue of the exhibition created by Museo ABC for Instituto Cervantes. The exhibition travelled to its european centers in: Prague (Czech Republic), Varsovia (Poland), Paris, Toulouse (both in France) and Brussels (Belgium).

Ramón Gómez de la Serna, from 1930 to 1936, signed «Greguerías», a weekly section of the  magazine Blanco y Negro.  It was both written and illustrated by him, an extension of the creative and versatile character of the great artist Gómez de la Serna. Ramón was a prolific writer of the so called «Generación del 14» who in spite of having published a hundred works among essays, theatre and biographies, is specially popular for its «Greguerías». A new genre that Ramón Gómez de la Serna described as «humour + metaphor».   having created the Outcries, a new genre that he(it) itself defined as «humor + metaphor». The Outcries shape a set of notes that enclose a conceptual pirouette and has written over a hundred books including essays, theater, biographies and its specially popular «Greguerías». The «Greguerías» shape a series of notes that hide a satiric metaphor, they enclose a conceptual pirouette, but it is much more than a simple joke of self-criticism (typical of the Spanish humour), it is a new genre and the result of the spirit of a wild and Modern artist.
