ABIGAIL LAZKOZ

PARAJES INCULTOS

Uncultivated Lands. By Abigail Lazkoz is a catalogue published by Museo ABC on the occasion of the 12th edition of the program Conexiones, a project in collaboration with Fundación Banco Santander and curated by Óscar Alonso Molina. The twelve catalogues of this collection have the aim to be small Artist Books, not only catalogues that accompany the exhibition as graphic material. Abigail Lazkoz has been invited to join the group of designers and editors so the book results to be one of the pieces of the Project, with the entity of a work of art.

The curatorial essay is signed by Óscar Alonso Molina who coordinates the program Conexiones. All the works of  Abigail Lazkoz in the show are present in the book, accompanied by the invited works chosen from the funds of both institutions: a painting by Miró (Personnage, 1973) from the Colección Banco Santander and 9 Greguerías by Ramón Gómez de la Serna published in his weekly section in the Dairy ABC and the Magazine Blanco y Negro from 1930 to 1936. Abigail Lazkoz selected these works from the 314 Greguerías that gathers the Colección ABC. Joan Miró, Ramón Gómez de la Serna and Abigail Lazkoz linked by a new personal connection: the gaze to the day-a-day world. Different points of view painted by Lazkoz with her «Expanded Drawing», as in the last years she has experimented with the possibilities of spreading drawings in the exhibition hall or on the pages of a book with absolute autonomy and she has become a pioneer in Spain in the so-called technique.
