Pablo Amargo (Oviedo, 1971) graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca, he is a reknown illustrator in the editorial world. His works are made after an intimate process of drawing on paper with a pencil. He reflects the paradoxes and double visual senses with different levels of meanings.

His drawings regularly appeared in both national and international Media, such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, Jot Down Magazine or National Geographic, among others. He has also done covers of publications, posters and graphic materials for institutions like Paris Quartier D´été or the Biblioteca Insular de Gran Canaria.

He has been awarded with numerous prizes, including the National Prize of Illustration in 2004 by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain, the Premio Junceda Íbera in 2012 and the Gold Medal in 2017 by the New York Society of Illustrators.

In this exhibition, we can make a tour through a selection of original works that appeared in two of his current, private and recognized editorial works: Cats Are Paradoxes (a book about some black and flexible cats which are in a permanent state of surprise, they move through the halls, look out over the rooftops, traverse the Roman ruins or doze under the bridges of Venice…) and Casualidad. This book was written by Pepe Monteserín and edited by Bárbara Fiore, in which the illustrator’s work is not confined to place images in texts; it proposes to expand the reading experience, endowing the book with its own personality.
