MARÍA HESSE

María Hesse (Huelva, 1982) forms part of a generation of Spanish illustrators that, despite their youth, they are already part of our pop culture. Her books, merchandising and drawings can be seen both in bookshops and in the social networks; and it was time they were shown in a Museum! This is the first exhibition ever dedicated to María Hesse in a Museum. The show (whose title is a wink to the film Sense and Sensibility) will gather more than 60 original illustrations from her biographies of Frida Kahlo and David Bowie, from her adaptation of the novel Little women  and the diary 2018-2019 that the artist has recently published.

María Hesse has worked as an illustrator for Edelvives and for publications as Jot Down, Fashion & Arts, Público or Glamour. She is the author of the books: David Bowie. A biography (Lumen, 2018), Little women (Alfaguara, 2018), The future is feminine (Nube de Tinta, 2018), Rita Bonita (Mosquito Books, 2017), Pride and Prejudice (Alfaguara, 2017) and Frida Kahlo. A biography (Lumen, 2016). She has had solo and collective exhibitions in many galleries of Madrid, Barcelona, Belgrade or her city of residence, Seville.
